Australian Motor Racing Series (AMRS) management wishes to advice the scheduled fourth round of the series at Queensland Raceway, 6-8 August, has been cancelled.
While series management has been monitoring the national COVID-19 situation and was intending to postpone the round, current uncertainty around lockdown and border restrictions, combined with circuit availability, made it impractical to reschedule the race meeting.
“We were intending to postpone the round by four to six weeks,” AMRS series manager Matt Baragwanath said.
“We thank Queensland Raceway for attempting to accommodate us, but unfortunately their vacant dates do not suit the needs of our customers.
“Queensland Raceway was set to be one of our biggest rounds of the year, so we are extremely disappointed we are unable to proceed with it.”
The AMRS will shortly announce an updated calendar, which will include the existing Wakefield Park and Tailem Bend fixtures along with an additional round, likely to take place at Winton.
